Questions homeowners ask
How much does it cost to floor 1,000 sq ft fully installed?
It depends almost entirely on the material. At mid-range quality: carpet about $4,950, laminate or vinyl plank about $6,750, engineered wood about $9,000, and solid hardwood about $14,400, all including labour.
What is the average labour cost for installing flooring?
Labour is typically about 36% of the total, with material at 42%. On a 1,000 square foot engineered wood job of roughly $9,000, that puts labour near $3,200. Tile is the exception, it is far more labour-heavy than plank flooring.
How much does it cost to install 2,000 square feet of vinyl plank floors?
Roughly $10,500 to $16,500 at mid-range quality, or about $13,500 typical. Removing the existing floor adds around $1.50 per square foot on top of that.
Does the old floor have to come out first?
Usually, and it is charged separately at about $1.50 per square foot. Laminate and vinyl can sometimes float over existing flooring if it is flat and sound, but tile almost always needs a bare, level subfloor or it cracks.
